How Verified works on a video call, a 22 second film
A video call with Sam, Tam and the host. Sam and Tam show a green Verified shield. Bhanu joins and his shield turns amber: Faces don't match. The host clicks the alert and the Verified checks panel shows the face their camera captures next to the face in the call. Then Tam's shield turns amber: a hidden AI interview helper is open on Tam's screen, in a window that screen sharing can't see. Verified never joins the call.
How Verified works for hosts and attendees
-
01
Install and enter your code
Add the Chrome extension, then type the access code we gave you.
-
02
Schedule it and switch it on
Create the call in Google Calendar with a Meet link and turn Verified on for each guest. Links open 10 minutes before the call.
-
03
Open the call and see everyone
Each guest's status shows in Meet and in the extension. Verified never joins the call.
-
01
Open the email
Click the button and the Verified app opens on a Mac with Apple silicon or a Windows PC.
-
02
A few quick checks
About five minutes. Each check runs on your own computer and settles as done.
-
03
Join the call
You appear with the verified badge. Verified keeps checking from outside the call.

Faces don't match
Questions, answered
No. Verified never joins your call, so there is no bot in the participant list. It checks from outside the call and shows the result in Google Meet.
Open the Verified desktop app from the email link, on a Mac with Apple silicon or a Windows PC. A few quick checks take about five minutes, then they join the call. The link opens 10 minutes before the call.
A small shield badge next to each person in Google Meet, and a Verified panel with the details. It reads Verified when the checks pass, and Can't confirm when something could not be confirmed.
It is a read for the host, not a verdict. A person can decline the check and still join; the host sees that they declined.
The 6,308 and 962 of 970 come from recorded clips of 70 people on public research video, scored offline with the same face matcher and settings as the product's check. 1,977 of those sessions were left undecided, not flagged. Camera tricks were caught 29 of 29 in each of 9 software-camera routes, and 20 of 20 live Google Meet sessions read correctly, with one person on one MacBook Pro. The full detail is on the research page.
Google Meet in Chrome for the host. Guests use the Verified desktop app on a Mac with Apple silicon or a Windows PC.
